Dancing Beads Autumn 2012 Workshops

What do you do to celebrate the changing of the seasons? Do you find yourself slowing down and looking for activities to engage your creativity? Are there traditions that make this time of year extra special for you?

I celebrate the transition from summer to autumn by taking leisurely walks through my neighborhood. It's inspiring to see the changes taking place around me. I notice the leaves beginning to turn color. The charming outdoor decorations cause me to pause and smile. I love the colors of the season, the changing light, the slowing pace, the comfort food, and the cozy clothes.

To bring the joy of autumn to our classroom, Dancing Beads has assembled a terrific offering of workshops. Our regular group of instructors have done it again! There are classes for all skill levels, classes focused on the holidays and gift giving, as well as classes to inspire your creativity. We're delighted to have two special guest instructors joining us this session.

It's traditional that classes offered in this workshop session fill quickly. After viewing the schedule don't wait too long to register for the classes of your choice.

I hope you enjoy the changing of the season as much as I do and find time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us all. See you in the classroom!

Cilette Swann

Dancing Beads Cilette Swann Bio Image

From scouring beaches as a child looking for driftwood, shells, and sea glass to make sculptures, or taking photographs all around the world on her travels as an acclaimed international songwriter and musician, Cilette Swann has had an enduring passion for art. When she's not touring or recording with her group Gypsy Soul, Cilette has embraced another creative endeavor Precious Metal Clay.

Residing in southern Oregon for the past decade, Cilette's latest exploration is in the art and alchemy of Precious Metal Clay. She is a Rio Grande certified instructor, taught by one of a handful of master instructors, Patrik Kusak. She is excited to share her experience and skill in this magical medium that from its beginning clay state becomes heirloom quality fine silver.

Dancing Beads is excited to be able to offer our first ever PMC workshop and delighted Cilette will be teaching her newest artistic journey to all of us. We've noticed when Cilette visits the shop for beads to add to her creations, she'll often begin to sing softly as she browses. She has an inspiring voice. We're hopeful that during the quiet moments of creativity a snippet of song might find it's way into the fun.

Hannah Rosner

Dancing Beads Hannah Rosner Bio Image

Specializing in handmade jewelry, purses, glasswork, and lampwork beads, Hannah Rosner is a rising star in the beading universe. She creates, writes, teaches and finds joy in sharing her passion for all things bead.

Hannah was a semifinalist in the lampwork category for Bead Dreams 2009 and won second place for her bead embroidered collarpiece in the Treasures of Toho 2009 Contest. The Treasures of Toho necklace can be seen in the February 2010 issue of Bead & Button. In 2011 her Neptune's Tail Necklace won third place in the Bead and Jewelry category at the Vegas Glass Craft Expo. This year she took first place with a bead encrusted, embroidered shoe in the Treasures of Toho 2012 Contest. Some of the beads used in her winning entry came from Dancing Beads!

She has an easy going personality and a flair for teaching. She's submitted several potential classes to Bead and Button 2013 which will take place in Milwaukie, Wisconsin. The classes she'll be teaching at Dancing Beads are amongst the classes she has proposed to teach at B&B.*

Beginning and lightly experienced beaders are her favorite students, yet her designs are sophisticated enough to appeal to very experienced bead weavers.

We're thrilled to have Hannah teaching at Dancing Beads during our Autumn 2012 Workshop Session. We'll also be hosting a trunk show featuring her whimsical lampworked beads and her patterns during the first weeks of November.

*Update* Hannah's Soutache Bracelet class scheduled for November 6th has been accepted by Bead & Button for inclusion in their 2013 workshops! This class will be the last time Hannah will be teaching the project until after the Bead & Button convention.
